-Official- Is this car worth it thread
For a specialty car like yours, it is best to cast a wide net. I'd say raise your price and advertise online on as many websites as you can. KBB and Edmunds will not have the true market value of your car since there can only be a handful of AP1s remaining with that kind of milesge.
Well Dealers over charge. I bought mine from the original owner in September of last year. 2004, rare Rio Yellow. 41,000 miles paid 16,500 before tax. Being in so cal sucks for prices of this car. I basically paid two grand more because of my location, which is BS. You will always pay less private party, and get good peice of mind talking to the owner. Also don't rush it. Took me 4 months to find mine. But I was picky, it had to be rio yellow or laguna blue.
I think that's an ok deal. If its in great shape than i would say that price is worth it. Check the inside and outside of the top make sure there are no tears or spots that seems to be weak. A new top is a $1200= job. I would also get a compression to test to make sure each cylinder is ok.
If everything checks out and the car is in great shape than i would purchase it

yeah i would go for it too. Its rare to find s2ks that are well taken care of and have low mileage like that one. Try to give her 16000 see what she says. If she doesnt bite, then bite the bullet and buy the car for the listed price. Sometimes, depending on what you are buying, money doesnt outweigh what you are buying especially a car that is so rare like the S2000.

Why don't you check out:

2005 with 7000 miles for $18,000.
Downside of that 2005 versus the 2006 is that it doesn't have VSA.
Holy low mileage. How much are you asking for it?
When selling a car I would prefer cash. If they pay with a check, tell them you will have to wait until the check clears to sign over the title. That way there is no way they can rip you off. I would NEVER let somebody test drive my S alone. I would first give them a ride in it, and if they are still very serious about it, let them drive it for a little bit and ride along with them. When selling my old 300zx I made the mistake of letting some goons test drive it by themselves (their car was at my house so I said whatever and let them take it) but I was a few minutes away from calling the police because they were gone with the car for over an hour doing who knows what. Then they ended up not buying it. So huge lesson learned there, pretty dumb of me for trusting them.
Also even if you have a higher asking price, there are a lot of people that would love to have a nice ap1 with that kind of mileage. I'd say you can find someone to give you $15k on it with that mileage.

The private party Kelley Blue Book as of the other day was $15,095 for excellent and $14,495 for good and of course I think it's in excellent condition.
Dealer offered me $5000.I had listed it at $16,000 but took it down as too many people wanted to see it right away and I’m still unsure of a safe way to take payment. The requests in broken English were particularly scary. I’m in no hurry, tempted to keep it but I only have a two car garage and having three cars I almost never drive is silly. The plan was to list it through the summer until someone that knows what it is and wants it finds me.
