he cut the piping & re-weld it on so he can stock cat on.
this is how i would make 230: EMS(with a great tuner), DTR or J's header, stright 3in exhaust, custom 2.5 to 3in test pipe, toda spec A cam, put a screen over your throttle body and run a 2.5 to 3in. silicone tube from teh front bumber infornt of the throttle body, put a screen over the front of the tube as well and change your oil alot.
im making over 250whp! when the weather is good again im going to run mid 12s, then hit 11s! My 2.5L stroker kit will be done some time in febuary, it will be far better better then inline's kit. There will be more info as i move along, everything is almost mapped out for it!!

Haha It all sounds good except I doubt the money spent on the EMS for those few mods will be useful. I think the same amount of tuning for the power goal can be accomplished with smaller devices.
I am not particularly fond of the "screen over the openings and change your oil a lot", but to each their own and maybe you gotta do what you gotta do...
Props to your setup, though. Did it ever get tuned yet?
Oh... And spec A cam???? Does that make any gains over stock??? why not spec C?

you cant run spec C or B with out new pistons, you need more valve relief. the screens over the intake may or may not be needed i woudl half to do a set up on a stock motor to figure it out, you might get away with just using a aem V2. I'm not big on the JDM intakes though, they look great but that is about where they end, i mean you mihgt pick up 2 whp but for a grand or 2???? the spec A is slightyly better then stock but the real magic of 230 on a stock block would be the tune, and i would use the EMS. As for using something else the AFC is worthless and the e manage is ok, but its to close in price for me personaly to not by the EMS. the EMS is 10 or 20 times more advanced then the e mange for 500 more dollars, i think hte tune is the most important thing you can do to your car (i used to not think so).
May set up is tuned, but not dynoed i half to think its in the 260-270 range, im not to sure though. lets put it this way i punched in third at 40 in the rain and was staring at median. In 1st gear in the dry if you puch it you half to correct it to keep it straight!!

Kay's has them for sale. I am opting to get mine from Hardtopguy though, because I can have them install it in a diff core and will make installation a lot easier on my end. I'm hoping to do this mod in the early spring when the weather is nicer. The revs will be a bit high on the highway, but I'm not concerned with gas mileage. My car already gets great mileage, and if I'm doing such a big mod like gears I want the best bang I can for the money.
4.77s have a 16% gearing advantage, versus the 11% advantage of the 4.56. Assuming your car is stock, and making around 200 at the wheels, the 4.56 will give the feeling of 22 horses, while the 4.77s will give the feeling of 32 horses. If you're running around 230 at the wheels NA with 4.77s, it's the equivalent to 37 AT THE WHEELS EXTRA! 4.56 with 230hp will be like an extra 25 hp. If you're staying mostly stock, than the 4.56 are probably the better choice, but if you're adding power with other stuff, the 4.77s are going to be exponentially quicker for you. 4.77 are more extreme, and seems like a great buy for the money. For 3-4 grand, you can fall somewhere in between a SC and turbo S2000 because your midrange will be monstrous, and you get to stay NA while running a flat 13 seconds.
IMO the best combo for the least amount of money for our car is a 70mm single exhaust, J's header, VAFC, and 4.77s. You're looking at or just over 3 thousand dollars and you're as fast or faster than an elise.
